Tax, must be paid for each person your company employs. You can file this tax with the Department of Inland Revenue. Their offices are located adjacent to the Quincy Lettsome Building, at the roundabout in Road Town. You will need to carry a copy of your trade license as proof that you are approved to operate a business. See Pay Your Taxes section for more information for the Payroll tax.
In addition to Payroll Tax, certain types of businesses are required to pay special taxes. These include, “Hotel Accommodation Tax,” “Self-Drive Motor Vehicle Rental Tax” and “Sale of Liquor Tax.”
Taxes for special types of businesses
Hotel Accommodation Tax
There is a 7% Hotel Accommodation Tax payable by guests who stay for six months or less in hotels, apartments, houses, cottages, villas and similar accommodations.
Self-Drive Motor Vehicle Rental Tax
Self-Drive Motor Vehicle Rental Tax is paid at a 5 percent rate on declared income earned. This money is to be paid into the Department of Inland Revenue no later than 15 days after the end of the month for which tax is due. Late payments incur a 4% fee per annum.
